About the Principal
Anastasia Maroulis
Welcome! My name is Anastasia Maroulis, and I am proud to serve as the Principal of Hillside School in Allendale, a role I have been honored to hold since 2006. I began my career in education after earning a degree in Elementary Education and Fine Arts from Rider University. I launched my teaching path in Ridgewood, New Jersey, in a cross-graded classroom offering a unique experience for peer learning and differentiated instruction. Then I spent over a decade in the Wyckoff Public School District, in first, second, and fifth-grade classrooms, where I developed a strong foundation in instructional practices and student-centered learning.
My path in educational leadership led me to the North Rockland Central School District, where I served as both Assistant Principal and Principal before joining the Allendale School District. I hold a Master’s degree in Reading and a second Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, and completed doctoral coursework in Organizational Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Beyond my work at Hillside, I am deeply involved in the broader educational community. I have served as President of the Bergen County Principals Association and currently mentor aspiring school leaders through New Jersey’s Leaders to Leaders program. These experiences continue to deepen my belief in the power of collaboration, mentorship, and lifelong learning.
At Hillside, I am dedicated to fostering a warm, inclusive, and academically challenging environment where every child is known, valued, and inspired to grow. I believe that strong relationships, high expectations, and a love of learning are at the heart of a great school community.
