🐝 Welcome to Hillside School in Allendale!

Serving preschool through third grade, Hillside is home to 390 students and 60 dedicated staff members, with class sizes averaging under 22. Our mission is to nurture the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally—so every student can become a confident, independent learner and collaborative thinker.

At Hillside, we spark a love of learning through hands-on, engaging lessons. Our curriculum includes:
📚 Language Arts: Readers and Writers Workshop approach to build lifelong reading and writing skills
➗ Math: Open-ended, hands-on exploration and ongoing practice
🌍 Science & Social Studies: Experiential activities, discussions, and writing experiences
💻 Technology: Promethean Boards, Chromebooks, iPads, and 21st-century skills integrated in every classroom

Students also enjoy weekly art, music, STEM, PE, media, and Spanish (grades 1–3). ESL and special education services ensure all learners have the support they need to thrive.

Our vibrant community is strengthened by the Allendale PTO, AFEE, and BHMAA, enriching every student’s educational journey.

Our motto? “A learning community where kindness counts.” Students embrace respect, courtesy, and helpfulness, inspired by our mascot, the Hillside Honeybee, symbolizing cooperation and interdependence.
