J.L. was the first African American artist to become famous and his art inspired many generations after him. His art always reflects the struggles and accomplishments of African American in the USA.

Last School Year Artist:

 "La Grande Jatte” or  ”Sunday Afternoon on the Island of la Grande Jatte” was created in 1884-1886 by the French artist Georges Seraut.

Seraut  developed a painting technique called Pointillism. Pointillism did not use brush strokes. The painting was created with dots-by-dots of colors. The process was so long and labor intensive that it took Seraut two years to finish the painting.
